Bruno Miguel Resende: What is Cinema for you?

Wojciech Węglarski: Cinema is something extraordinary to me. It's something I couldn't live without. Watching various movies makes me feel like I belong to each of those worlds. When I create such a world myself, it's something truly magical—from the first written words to a completed creation.

Bruno Miguel Resende: What makes you choose horror?

Wojciech Węglarski:Horror is a particularly intriguing genre, mainly due to its power. Fear is a very strong emotion, and in my opinion, it can trigger further thought-provoking reflections in the human mind. Additionally, there's a lot of fun during the filmmaking process.

Bruno Miguel Resende: Why do you think the fear makes people love horror movies?

Wojciech Węglarski: I think that horror has a unique ability to transform various emotions into fear. The intensity of fear very often allows people to temporarily forget about their problems, challenges, or sorrows. It serves as a powerful escape into a different area of emotions.

Bruno Miguel Resende: What is your favourite horror movie?

Wojciech Węglarski: I'll say Kubrick's "The Shining." I'll also add something less ambitious, like "Paranormal Activity." I remember that as a teenager, after watching this film, for several days, or rather nights, I was genuinely scared.

Bruno Miguel Resende: What are your influences in art?

Wojciech Węglarski: I grew up on Lynch and Scorsese films. I love Tarantino; he's my all-time favorite. More recently, I think Lanthimos and Nolan are doing a great job.

Bruno Miguel Resende: What is your next objective?

Wojciech Węglarski: I'm in the process of writing something new. This time, it will be a full-length movie, blending elements of drama and romance.

Bruno Miguel Resende: How do you define contemporany Cinema?

Wojciech Węglarski: Every year, thousands of films are produced worldwide. This allows individuals with varying levels and types of sensitivity to find something for themselves and that's beautiful. I also appreciate that modern cinema genuinely confronts social inequalities and injustices in the world.

Bruno Miguel Resende: What are your activites beyond Cinema?

Wojciech Węglarski: I am actively involved in environmental and ecological activism. I try to help Ukrainians in any way I can in this difficult situation. Here in Poland, there are many war immigrants, and each one lives in a kind of tension and uncertainty about their future. It is crucial to remember that just beyond the border people are dying and the world seems to do nothing about it.
